the REAL paradise

Now Matty and I are on the VALOR and we go to ports that actually look like paradise. Of course when all you really want is internet and good chai you don't really care about the weather. i know it sounds lame! i know.

last night all i wanted to do was watch grey's anatomy and i had a last minute activity and i caught myself pouting again. i need to get over that. i need to just enjoy this for what it is!

next week i'm the host on duty so i can't get off the ship for 8 days. i will save money but i will also go crazy. the people on board are nice so that is good. the guests are way more into the activities which helps my momentum but also keeps me on my toes!

the humidity today though. sheesh!

i am missing people. we got a lot of people on our 3 month vacation. i miss them all.

promise to attach pics soon!

much love

With honor and with VALOR

What to say about the Carnival Valor?

I honestly spent the better part of 2 months being both anxious/nervous and excited about getting here. Part of me just wanted to be here, get those initial days done with and be on with it. The biggest of my nerves was just remembering how much hell the Paradise was my first week. I cringed at the thought of that happening all over again. Well it came, it happened and now I am sitting in beautiful Honduras on my day off eating gellato and writing this blog. Suffice it to say, I think I just breathed for the first time since Saturday afternoon.

The Valor is just about everything the Paradise was not (especially with the fact Tina ceases to be here yet, which will, most fortunately, be changing in 4 days). The Valor is huge. I do not live below sea level. I live on deck 3 and the Thunder of God erupts most mornings in our room, due to the close proximity of the engine. But I also live right behind the stage so I could easily get the very last bits of TNT untill showtime. I play in a pit, which sadly, doesn't allow me to really watch the shows or interact with the dancers/singers. My team is much different. As a whole they are much older then my last team. A few guys are completely burnt and checked out, a couple guys are super cool, super nice BUT most importantly my boss is manageable and usually even approachable. Thank the Lord! The ports are nice, or have been so far. I did not get off in Cayman but have heard good things. Isla Roatan is gorgeous, in all the ways Ensenada was not. I still have Belize and Cozumel to go.

In the end, I am quite grateful. My nerves have been calmed for the most part. I have successfully navigated an absolute whirlwind of the first 3 days. A few mental bruises but nothing that I think will last. Its all part of the learning curve and I'm taking it in stride. This day off is much needed and much appreciated.

I am more then excited for Kris to join me, for us to settle into a room (my roommate is kind but also kind of has stinky feet) to experience this altogether and to really make the most of this contract. In my mind the potential upside or ceiling is much higher then last time.

Till later, when the stories and friends become more for the telling,
