life at sea

the last few weeks have been a bit stressful for Matty and myself. with a TON of staff changes and medical quarentines in the department we are saying a lot of goodbyes and working a lot of extra hours. I've had very little access to internet and phone calls as work and sleep have taken over. We have started to plan our WEST COAST road trip and hunker down for the remaining 11 weeks. 22 cruises/boat drills/etc...
Thank God for Matty's positive attitude. Thankfully i NEVER stop moving so the midnight crew buffets don't effect me too much although Matty has asked me NOT to weigh myself until this week is over. He's smart. Kris emotional game plan intact! Last week i was moaning about being on Catalina Island... again... to Laura and she reminded me that she was buying underwear for her 2.5 year old Averie at Target and in the background i could hear another child throwing a tantrum. so. grass is greener for everyone sometimes.
So i'm going to take a good look at the green grass on my end of things.
1. i'm really good at my job (even though a guest made me cry on thursday because i wouldn't let his kid play water wars with the adults and an extremely drunk passenger called me a "bitch" yesterday because the Ping Pong tournament was full and i wouldn't let him play...)
2. it's so interesting to work with SO many international people. I know i take it for granted everyday. when an entire dance cast of Canadians, Mexicans, Brits and Aussies are singing/dancing to the production number "i'm proud to be an American!"... it's funny. there are only about 20 of us Americans on board. not hard to believe since they are SO obnoxious as guests... sometimes.
3. i haven't made my own bed since April.
4. i haven't made a single meal or done a single sink of dishes since April either.
5. it's always warm outside.
6. there are always palm trees.
7. i still have starbucks and my tv shows i can watch.
8. i get to be with Matty way more.
9. i live on the ocean.
10. i am learning to appreciate MORE & MORE what i have in my friends and family.

i do miss you all.
i also miss swedish pancakes. (can't make them)
having a couch
pets (i still really miss piper)
the davis and cheap movies
nights... on land.
having sunlight to wake me up in the morning.
taking a bath.
CHURCH.
carpet and wood. (everything is linoleum and metal.
weekends.
space.

Thank you for ALL your prayers and support as Matty an I continue to pursue our passions, dreams and look to find out what the future brings.

GOULET!

We celebrated Matty's birthday in style and invited all the Entertainment Staff men to don moustaches in honor of Goulet and Burgundy. Fun was had by all.

Moms & Dads!

Our moms and dads came to the Paradise!
We had a blast making our life here feel more like a reality with new friends meeting family and showing them around our two and ONLY two locales, Ensenada & Catalina.
We went on a winery tour, blow hole tour and bus tour. We also got to eat in the formal dining room with them which made us feel like royalty! just ask matty about the warm melted chocolate cake with ice cream! Matty had a great birthday and we were very happy. My aunt and uncle cruised the very next week as well which made the family buzz last a little longer!

Almost to our "hump day" of July 12th and excited to be on the back slope of the contract. Time to plan our October/November west coast road trip and look for another company in the fleet of cruise liners to possibly take us out of the the US back yard and into really foreign waters... stay tuned!
